OK, I confess I haven't yet played any of the DDS games (they're in my queue!), but this makes me REALLY want to pick up the games RIGHT NOW.

Even without knowing the fandom all that well, this story is still really effective and wonderful to read. The level of detail is fantastic, and it's dark and sad and sweet all at once.
